In addition to topping the worldwide charts, the movie had the largest opening weekend ever for a Netflix movie in the United States, according to the streaming behemoth.

Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2, which premiered on Netflix on July 25, has shattered viewership records, swiftly claiming the No. 1 spot on the platform’s list of top 10 English-language films.

In addition to topping the worldwide charts, the movie had the largest opening weekend ever for a Netflix movie in the United States, according to the streaming behemoth.

The release of the sequel also greatly increased the number of people who watched the 1996 original Happy Gilmore film by rekindling interest in it. With 11.4 million views, the iconic movie rose to the third position on the chart.

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, another Adam Sandler creation, also made a comeback to the public eye, ranking seventh with 4.5 million views.

Netflix's viewership reporting window for that week was July 21–27, even though Happy Gilmore 2 was released on July 25. The sequel received an astounding 46.7 million views in just three days after its release, confirming its position as a streaming powerhouse.

Years after Happy Gilmore's first Tour Championship victory, the story of Happy Gilmore 2 revolves around golf once more. Currently retired, he is enticed to return to the game in an attempt to generate funds for his daughter's ballet lessons.

Money Control's review of happy Gilmore 2 reads as, "Performance-wise, Adam Sandler knows this character inside out and plays Happy Gilmore with the same manic energy but also adds a slightly more grounded edge this time. He still yells, throws clubs, and picks fights, but there's a layer of tiredness and vulnerability that feels earned. Benny Safdie plays Frank Manatee with an exaggerated slickness that suits the over-the-top world of the film—his comic timing is sharp, and his strange charisma makes him a solid foil to Sandler’s Happy."

Directed by Kyle Newacheck and co-written by Adam Sandler alongside longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy, the film features a star-studded cast including Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Benny Safdie, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (a.k.a. Bad Bunny), and Ben Stiller.
