The Bads of Bollywood which marked the directorial debut of Aryan Khan, has garnered significant reaction and love from the viewers ever since its release on September 18 on Netflix.
As the internet has been blowing up with various reviews and memes about the show, actor Akash Bathija has now shared a video revealing that he auditioned for the role of Sameer in The Bads of Bollywood.
Akash took to Instagram and posted a video clip featuring his audition for the character of Sameer (Sahher Bhamba's character Karishma Talvar’s onscreen boyfriend).
The caption read, "Would’ve been stoked to get this part. But, @armaankhera you nailed it brother! @nandinishrikent @nirbhayjainnn @pratibhasharmaaa thank you for giving me a shot ! badsofbollywood , ba***adsofbollywood, audition , Netflix."
He couldn't make it through the audition, and eventually actor Armaan Khera portrayed Sameer on the show.
Akash has appeared in films such as Pathaan, Ishaqzaade, web series Made in Heaven and more.
The Bads of Bollywood revolves around Delhi-based actor Aasmaan Singh, whose career takes off after a successful debut produced by Freddy Sodawallah. He lands a role opposite Karishma Talvar in a Karan Johar film, but faces challenges including Freddy’s multi-film contract, meddling from Karishma’s father Ajay Talvar, a budding romance, and unexpected twists.
Money Control's review of Bad***s of Bollywood* read as, "At its core, ‘The Bads of Bollywood’ is a satire dressed as a spoof, throwing playful punches at everything Bollywood stands for. The caricatured characters, industry in-jokes, and irreverent tone reveal Aryan Khan’s unapologetic commercial sensibilities. While critics may argue the series lacks substance, it demands to be enjoyed with a pinch of salt and a tub of popcorn. In a landscape where many shows strain for seriousness, this one dares to revel in silliness. Aryan’s debut might not break new ground, but it confidently announces his flair for spectacle."
With seven episodes streaming on Netflix, the series received acclaim from critics, who lauded Khan’s direction, the story, the screenplay, and the performances.
The show stars Lakshya Lalwani, Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bambba, Anya Singh, Manoj Pahwa and Mona Singh in crucial roles. The show also features several big names of Bollywood in special cameos throughout the episodes.
