“Aapne Kesari 2 mein Bohot Khoobi Se Apna Role Nibhaya”: Amitabh Bachchan’s words leave Ananya Panday in tears

Ananya Panday recently found herself overwhelmed with emotion after receiving heartfelt praise from none other than Amitabh Bachchan for her performance in Kesari Chapter 2. The young actor, who has been steadily expanding her filmography, shared a deeply personal moment from the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati, where Bachchan publicly acknowledged her work, leaving her visibly teary-eyed.

Ananya is currently in the news for her upcoming romantic film Tu Mera Main Teri Main Teri Tu Mera opposite Kartik Aaryan. However, it was her role in director Karan Singh Tyagi’s Kesari Chapter 2 that drew rare and meaningful appreciation from the legendary actor. In the period drama, Ananya portrayed Dilreet Gill, a character connected to the emotional aftermath of the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Though not a loud or dominant role, her performance relied heavily on restraint, silence, and internalised emotion.

During a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, where Ananya appeared as part of her film promotions, Amitabh Bachchan paused the conversation to speak about Kesari Chapter 2. He said, “Inki ek film hai, Kesari Chapter 2, jisme inhone kaam kiya tha. Humne kaha ki bohot bade bade kalakaar hain usme aur sabne bohot achcha kaam kiya. Lekin itne bade kalakaron ke saath rehkar bhi Ananya, aapne bohot khoobi se apna role nibhaya.”

He went on to explain what stood out to him about her performance, adding, “Zyada bolna nahi tha inko. Jis tarah se unki nazar gayi, unki look gayi. Hum sab ek hi profession mein hain. Teen mahine pehle pata hota hai role kya hai, dialogue kya hai. Lekin jab shooting hoti hai, toh audience ko lagna chahiye ki yeh sab pehli baar ho raha hai. Wahi par kalakaar ki khoobi pata chalti hai. Woh feeling maine aap mein dekhi.”

Translated, Bachchan highlighted how Ananya conveyed emotion without excessive dialogue, relying instead on her expressions and presence. He emphasised that true acting lies in making a rehearsed moment feel spontaneous and lived-in, a quality he felt she displayed convincingly.

The praise clearly struck an emotional chord. Ananya later shared the clip on her social media, calling it a defining moment in her journey. She wrote, “The biggest moment of any actor’s life. I will cherish your words forever, Amit Ji.” The post quickly gained attention, with fans and industry colleagues applauding both the veteran’s generosity and the actor’s growth.

Kesari Chapter 2 also stars Akshay Kumar as Nair and R Madhavan as Neville McKinley. While the film featured several established performers, Amitabh Bachchan’s words placed Ananya’s understated performance in sharp focus, marking a rare and validating moment for the actor as she continues to evolve on screen.
