Lakshmi Manchu, who is currently promoting her next movie Daksha: A Deadly  Conspiracy, has sparked a debate with her recent statements about how women are treated in the movie business.

Without taking any names, she told Great Andhra that the ex-wife of a superstar has been "indirectly blacklisted" in Tollywood even though she is prepared to work.

Lakshmi stated, "There is a superstar's ex-wife who works here," but she didn't say who it was. She was divorced, and since then, even movies that were formerly presented to her have been taken away. She said, "Oddu le amma, aina emana antaru emo" (He might feel awful and say something). I don't need to mention her because she is waiting for good work."

Lakshmi didn't say yes or no when the journalist asked if she was talking about Samantha Ruth Prabhu. "You're sure it's Samantha." But there isn't just one superstar; around five or six of them have been divorced.

She said, "I'm close to all of them." "My point is that a man never has to deal with these things. He continues on with his life as usual. But after a woman is married, she has to take care of her kids, her in-laws, and what society expects of her. No one grants us freedom; we have to grab it for ourselves," she said.

Naga Chaitanya, on the other hand, got married to Sobhita Dhulipala in 2024. People say that Samantha is dating filmmaker Raj Nidimoru, though.
