Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on April 8 alleged that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, 22 businessmen have amassed wealth equal to that of 70 crore people of India.
“Narendra Modi has made 22 people rich. It’s shameful, he did not waive the debt of poor farmers and labourers, but he waived the debt of Rs 16 lakh crore of industrialists,” alleged Gandhi while addressing a rally in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh ahead of Lok Sabha elections 2024.
This is a huge number, and the people of the country must know that the government spends Rs 60 crore to run the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), and Narendra Modi has waived the debt of industrialists that would run the scheme for 24 years, the Congress leader alleged.
“Two Indias are being created, one for the rich and one for the poor. In one India, people migrate to other cities to earn their livelihood, while in the other India, three percent of people can do anything,” said Rahul Gandhi.
The small-scale industries have been shut in the country, because of which employment has also been affected, and there are 30 lakh vacancies in the country, he said, adding the Congress is committed to filling them once it's elected to power.
“All our promises in the manifesto will be implemented once we come to power. We have decided to put Rs 1 lakh in the bank account of every poor woman, and double the income of ASHA and Anganwadi workers,” Rahul Gandhi added.
The former Congress president also asserted that he’s people’s sepoy in New Delhi, who will work on their orders.
