Lok Sabha elections in Haryana:
Haryana has a total 10 Lok Sabha seats, the state is important for the ruling party both geographically and economically owing to its proximity to the National Capital. Two of its 10 constituencies (Gurgaon and Faridabad) are a part of the National Capital Region (NCR). BJP has dominated the Lok Sabha elections in the state in the last two Los Sabha assembly elections.
In the 2019 elections, the BJP swept all the 10 seats in Haryana with a vote share of 58.02 percent, on the other hand Congress managed a vote share of just 28.79 percent.
In 2014, BJP emerged victorious in seven of the 10 seats in Haryana with a vote share of 34.75 percent while the Indian National Lok Dal won two seats with a vote share of 24.36 percent. Congress managed to win just one seat garnering a vote share of 22.93 percent.
In Haryana, even though the BJP dominated the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, it fell short of the majority mark in the legislative assembly polls in the same year. Thus, it formed government in the state in alliance with Dushyant Chautala led Jannayak Janta Party (JJP)
However, in March 2024, JJP walked out of the alliance with BJP over seat sharing for the Lok Sabha elections.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the battle for Haryana is BJP which is looking to replicate its 2019 success and the Congress led INDI Alliance which is hoping for to return to its 2009 glory. While BJP is contesting all the 10 seats on its own, the Congress is fighting in nine seats while its alliance partner Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is contesting in one seat.
