Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh highlighted the party's significant wins in the recent Assam parliamentary elections, underscoring their success despite what he termed a "manipulated delimitation exercise". He asserted that the countdown to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's exit has begun, pointing to the party's enhanced vote share and crucial victories despite challenges.

"Time to go Mukhya Mantri! The countdown to Himanta Biswa Sarma's exit has begun," Ramesh said.

Jairam Ramesh pointed out that the party retained three MP seats despite the challenges posed. He stressed the party's remarkable vote share of 37.48%, almost doubling its previous performance and surpassing the BJP, which secured 37.43% of the vote.

He underscored Pradyut Bordoloi's increased margin by nearly 2 lakh votes. He further mentioned that despite the Assam Chief Minister hosting 25 public meetings to defeat Gaurav Gogoi, their party candidate emerged victorious with a substantial margin of one lakh votes.

Jairam Ramesh stated that despite the BJP's extensive efforts to support Badruddin Ajmal, a three-time MP representing the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Rakibul Hussain secured a significant victory for the Congress party. "Inspite of the BJP's best efforts to prop up Badruddin Ajmal, Rakibul Hussain swept Dhubri Lok Sabha with a historic margin," Jairam Ramesh said.
