The formation of BJP’s state government in national capital Delhi after a gap of 27 years will have to wait for a few more days as it is unlikely to take place before Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes back from his official visit to US, News18 reported on February 9.

PM Modi will be on a two-day visit to meet US President Donald Trump on February 12 and 13.

The saffron party, which breached the stronghold of former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Admi Party (AAP) by winning 48 seats out of 70 in the state Assembly elections, is planning a grand swearing-in ceremony, News18 reported. AAP managed to hold on to the remaining 22 seats, a massive fall from its previous tally of 62 seats in the 2020 Assemble elections.

BJP is planning to invite all the major leaders and chief ministers of the NDA alliance.

Parvesh Verma, the giant killer who stopped the juggernaut of Kejriwal is considered to be the front-runner in the race for post of chief minister. Late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj’s daughter Bansuri Swaraj and former Union minister Smriti Irani are also reportedly in the race.
