The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) is commencing the highly anticipated UP Board Exam 2026 today, February 18. With the first day dedicated to Hindi papers for both High School and Intermediate students, the atmosphere at examination centers is charged with a mix of nervous energy and determination.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations, the Board has rolled out a comprehensive list of dos and don’ts. From mandatory documents to strict technological bans, here is everything students need to know to navigate their exam day successfully.
Exam Day Schedule: Shift Timings
The exams are being held in two distinct shifts:
First Shift (Class 10 - High School): The exam will run from 8:30 AM to 11:45 AM. Students will be tested on Hindi and Elementary Hindi.
Second Shift (Class 12 - Intermediate): The exam will run from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. Students will appear for Hindi and General Hindi papers.
The "Must-Do" Checklist for Students
To avoid any last-minute hiccups, the Board has emphasized strict adherence to the following rules:
1. Mandatory Documents (Your Entry Ticket)
No student will be allowed entry without their Admit Card and School Identity Card. These are non-negotiable and must be kept handy at all times.
2. The 'One Hour' Rule
Students are instructed to arrive at the examination center at least one hour before the scheduled start time. This buffer period is crucial for security checks, locating the correct room, and settling in before the stress begins.
3. Gate Closing Time
While arriving early is advised, the center gates will be firmly closed 30 minutes before the exam begins. However, in a significant relaxation of rules this year, the UP Board Secretary has confirmed that candidates arriving up to 30 minutes late will still be allowed entry—a relief for those who might face unexpected delays. Previously, latecomers were turned away.
4. What to Do If You Lose Your Admit Card
Losing an admit card on the exam day can be a nightmare, but the Board has a solution. If a student misplaces their card, the Centre Administrator will verify their details against the official list. If the information matches, the student will be permitted to take the exam after submitting an undertaking. However, they must later procure a duplicate admit card from their school and submit it to the authorities.
Strictly Banned: Items Not Allowed Inside
In a bid to maintain the sanctity of the examination, the UP Board has imposed a blanket ban on all electronic gadgets.
5. No Electronic Devices
Items such as mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, and calculators are strictly prohibited. Possession of these items will be considered unfair means, leading to severe disciplinary action.
6. Self-Check Before Entering
Students are advised to perform a thorough self-check of their pockets, clothes, and belongings. Carrying any unwanted chits, notes, or unauthorized papers is a serious offense.
7. Check Your Surroundings
Once seated, students should take a moment to check their immediate surroundings. If any stray pieces of paper or suspicious materials are found near the desk, they must immediately inform the invigilator.
Special Provisions for Safety and Security
Dignity for Female Candidates
The Board has ensured the safety and dignity of female candidates by mandating that no female student will be searched by male invigilators or officials under any circumstances.
The Unique Code Mandate
It is mandatory to stamp the unique center code on the main page of the answer sheet. However, the signature and designation stamp of the Centre Administrator will not be used this year.
High-Tech Surveillance: The 2026 Crackdown on Cheating
The UPMSP has left no stone unturned to ensure a "cheating-free" examination.
CCTV and Voice Recorders: A total of 8,033 examination centers have been established across the state. In a massive surveillance operation, two CCTV cameras with voice recorders have been installed in every single room of every center.
Live Webcasting: The entire examination process will be monitored live through webcasting.
Strong Room Security: District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) officials have instructed Centre Administrators that the strong room cupboards will be opened only in the presence of the Static Magistrate and External Centre Administrator, under the gaze of CCTV cameras. The exact time and date of opening and closing must be meticulously recorded in a register.
