1993: Conclusion of Oslo Accords Negotiations
The Oslo Accords negotiations reached their conclusion at the Fafo Institute in Oslo, marking a pivotal moment in Middle Eastern diplomacy. This agreement between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) laid the groundwork for the establishment of the Palestinian Authority, granting it administrative control over the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The accords were later signed in Washington, D.C.

1988: End of the Iran-Iraq War
After seven grueling years of conflict, the conventional war between Iran and Iraq came to an end. The war, which began with Iraq's invasion of Iran on September 22, 1980, resulted in significant loss of life and extensive damage to both nations.

1975: NASA's Viking 1 Launch
NASA successfully launched Viking 1 using a Titan launch vehicle. This mission marked a significant achievement in space exploration as Viking 1 became the first space probe to land successfully on Mars, paving the way for future Mars exploration.

1960: Senegal's Independence from the Mali Federation
Senegal declared its independence from the Mali Federation, just one year after the federation was established. Following the withdrawal, Léopold Senghor became Senegal's first president a month later, leading the newly independent nation.

1940: Assassination of Leon Trotsky
Leon Trotsky, a key figure in the Russian Revolution and founder of the Red Army, was brutally attacked in his home in Mexico by an undercover agent of the Soviet N.K.V.D. Trotsky succumbed to his injuries the following day, marking a significant event in Soviet history.
