In a surprising turn of events, a 10th class student who had secured over 90 marks in five subjects in the Andhra Pradesh SSC (Secondary School Certificate) exams initially failed in Social Studies—only to later score 96 marks upon revaluation.
Emani Tejaswini, a student at Kollur ZP High School in Bapatla district, had excelled in most subjects, scoring above 90 out of 100 in five papers. However, her result showed she had failed after receiving only 23 marks in Social Studies. Suspecting an error, her family applied for revaluation, which revealed a drastic correction—her marks were revised to 96.
With this update, her total score rose to 575. However, the delay in the revaluation process has caused complications. Her parents expressed concern that the deadline for applying to the Triple IT (Intermediate in Information Technology) course had already passed by the time her revised marks were declared. Teachers and family members are now appealing to the authorities to grant her a special opportunity to apply, as her current score could secure her a seat.
Tejaswini's father, who does odd jobs to support her education, hopes for a favourable resolution. The case has raised questions about the accuracy of initial evaluations and the need for timely revaluation processes to avoid academic setbacks for students.
Officials have yet to respond to the family’s appeal for an extension in the admission deadline.
