School Holidays 2025: Schools shut across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, and other states amid severe winter conditions

A significant portion of North India is currently experiencing a severe cold wave, prompting school closures in numerous states. The biting cold, accompanied by dense fog in many areas, has led authorities to prioritise the safety and well-being of students.

Here's a breakdown of the current situation:

Uttar Pradesh: Schools have been mandated to remain closed for a period of 15 days. A tentative reopening date has been set for January 15.

Delhi: Following suit, schools in the national capital have also been closed for 15 days. A potential reopening date of January 16 has been announced.

Punjab: While schools were initially scheduled to resume on January 1st, the ongoing cold wave has necessitated an extension of the closure. The anticipated reopening date is now January 7.

Rajasthan: Winter vacation commenced on December 25 and is currently in effect. The tentative reopening date is set for January 6. However, depending on the prevailing weather conditions, further extensions may be implemented.

Jharkhand: All government schools in Jharkhand are scheduled to resume operations on January 6.

Madhya Pradesh: Schools in Madhya Pradesh are expected to reopen on January 5.

Jammu and Kashmir: Given the region's characteristically harsh winter climate, most schools in Jammu and Kashmir will remain closed until February 28.

Bihar: Winter vacation for students in grades 1 to 12 within Bihar schools was officially announced from December 25 to 31, 2024.
