Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has announced recruitment for the position of Trainee Engineer (Electronics) in its subsidiary, PowerTel. Eligible candidates can apply through the official website at powergrid.in.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, candidates must appear in the Electronics and Communication paper of GATE 2024 and secure qualifying marks as declared by the GATE 2024 Organising Body.
- Possess a Full-Time B.E./ B.Tech/ B.Sc. (Engg.) degree in Electronics or equivalent from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA.

The total number of vacancies is 22, distributed as follows:
- UR: 11
- EWS: 02
- OBC (NCL): 05
- SC: 03
- ST: 01
- PwBD (Horizontal Reservation): 01
Age Limit: The upper age limit is 28 years as of 19 December 2024.
Application Fee
- A non-refundable fee of Rs. 500 is required for application submission.
- SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-SM/DESM candidates are exempted from this fee.

The selection process includes the following stages:
- Normalised marks out of 100 in the GATE 2024 Electronics and Communication paper.
- Behavioural assessment.
- Group discussion.
- Personal interview.
Shortlisting for group discussion and interviews will be based on the GATE 2024 score. Candidates can choose to participate in the GD/interview in either Hindi or English.
Service Agreement Bond
Selected candidates must sign a service agreement bond:
- Rs. 5,00,000 for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS candidates.
- Rs. 2,50,000 for SC/ST/PwBD candidates. The bond requires the candidate to serve the Corporation for at least three years after completing training.
