Noida Schools Closed Until Further Orders for Classes Up to 8 Amid Severe Cold Wave

Gautam Buddha Nagar administration has ordered all schools in Noida up to Class 8 to remain closed until further notice due to a severe cold wave and dense fog in the region.

Amid severe cold wave conditions, the Gautam Buddha Nagar administration has announced the suspension of classes for students up to Class 8 in all schools across Noida until further notice. The directive applies to all educational institutions, regardless of their board affiliation, including CBSE, ICSE, IB, and UP Board schools.

The decision was announced on Thursday by District Basic Education Officer Rahul Panwar, following instructions from the District Magistrate. The official order stated the challenges posed by cold and foggy weather, which could cause significant inconvenience to students travelling to schools.

"In compliance with the instructions given by the District Magistrate, Gautam Buddh Nagar, in view of the dense fog and extreme cold, there will be a holiday in all the schools (classes from nursery to 8) recognised by all boards operating in the district with immediate effect till further orders. The said order should be strictly followed," read the notice issued on Thursday.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Noida experienced a minimum temperature of below 10 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 17 degrees Celsius on Thursday. The forecast for Friday indicates a further dip, with temperatures likely to touch 8 degrees Celsius. Foggy and misty conditions are expected to persist over the coming days.

IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra has noted that northern and western parts of central India are likely to see more cold wave days than usual throughout January. Similar conditions have been reported across Uttar Pradesh, with significant temperature drops in cities like Ayodhya, Meerut, and Lucknow earlier this week.
