The NIRF Rankings 2024 have been released and can be accessed on the official website, nirfindia.org. Keeping the tradition, IIT Madras has topped once again the list of colleges/universities in the Overall category.

The Ministry of Education received 10,885 applications this year. Three new categories, including Open Universities and Skill Universities, have been added to the rankings.

IIT Madras secured the top position in the engineering category in 2023, achieving an overall score of 89.79. IIT Delhi came in second with a score of 87.09, followed by IIT Bombay in third place with 80.74. IIT Kanpur took the fourth spot with a score of 80.65, while IIT Roorkee rounded out the top five with 75.64.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is set to unveil the latest NIRF Rankings at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, with Minister of State for Education Sukanto Majumdar also attending the event.

During the press conference, rankings were announced across various categories, with IIT Madras once again securing the top spot in the overall rankings.

This framework provides a methodology for ranking institutions nationwide. It is based on the recommendations and insights of a Core Committee established by the MHRD, which identified key parameters for evaluating universities and institutions. These parameters include "Teaching, Learning and Resources," "Research and Professional Practices," "Graduation Outcomes," "Outreach and Inclusivity," and "Perception."

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and officially launched by the Honourable Minister on 29th September 2015.

Last year, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) secured the No. 1 position in the NIRF India Rankings 2023 in the Overall category. Located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, IIT Madras achieved a NIRF ranking score of 86.69, topping the overall category listing.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings 2024 are scheduled to be released on 12th August 2024 at 3 PM. These rankings are highly anticipated as they assess and rank higher education institutions across India based on various parameters such as teaching, learning resources, research, and overall performance.

The NIRF Rankings 2023 highlighted some of the top-performing universities in the country. Leading the list was the Indian Institute of Science, followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jamia Millia Islamia. Other notable institutions included Jadavpur University, Banaras Hindu University, and the Manipal Academy of Higher Education. It is important to note that only institutions that have graduated at least three cohorts of students from full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programs are eligible for these rankings, ensuring that the evaluation is based on sustained performance over time.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework was officially launched by the Minister of Human Resource Development on September 23, 2015. The framework was approved by the MHRD as a standardized tool to rank institutions across India. Since its inception, NIRF has become a trusted benchmark for academic institutions, guiding students, educators, and policymakers in understanding and comparing the performance of universities and colleges nationwide.

The NIRF Rankings are determined by a weighted evaluation of several parameters. 'Teaching, Learning & Resources' and 'Research and Professional Practice' are given the highest importance, each contributing 30% to the overall score. 'Graduation Outcomes' account for 20%, while 'Outreach and Inclusivity' and 'Perception' each contribute 10%. This structured approach allows for a balanced assessment of academic institutions, ensuring that all critical aspects of educational excellence are considered.
