KVS Admission 2026-27: Key Dates

Eligibility Criteria: Age Limits for Balvatika and Class I
KVS has a strict age policy for admissions, calculated based on the child's age as of March 31, 2026. It is essential to check the specific requirements for each level before applying.
For Class I, a child must be at least 6 years old but must not have turned 8 years old as of March 31, 2026. Children born on April 1 are also considered eligible.
For Balvatika, the admission is divided into three levels based on age:
Steps to apply for KVS Admission 2026:
Step 1: Go to the official KVS admission portal. For Class I, the link is kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in, and for Balvatika, the dedicated portal is balvatika.kvs.gov.in.
Step 2: Click on "New Registration" and enter the basic details of the child and parents, including a valid mobile number and email ID. Upon submission, a unique registration number will be generated.
Step 3: Log in using the credentials received. Carefully fill in the academic and personal details. You will have the option to select up to three preferred Kendriya Vidyalayas in order of priority.
Step 4: Upload scanned copies of the required documents. Ensure the files are in the specified format (JPEG or PDF) and within the size limit (usually up to 256KB).
Step 5: Preview the entire application form to ensure all information is accurate. Once satisfied, click on "Final Submit." It is highly advisable to take a printout of the submitted application and the confirmation page for future reference.

Selection Process: Lottery System
KVS does not conduct any written entrance exam or interview for admission to Class I. Seats are allotted based on a computerized lottery system followed by a priority category framework.
The reservation policy allocates 25% of seats under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for economically weaker sections. Additionally, reservations are in place for SC (15%), ST (7.5%), and OBC (27%) categories. Priority is given to children of transferable central government employees, defense personnel, and ex-servicemen.
