With the Second Pre-University Course (PUC) examination scheduled to commence on Saturday, February 28, the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has issued a clarification regarding claims of a question paper leak circulating on social media.
According to a report by News18 Kannada, several videos and posts have gone viral on platforms like Instagram, with miscreants allegedly attempting to mislead students by claiming they can provide the question papers for a fee.
The report details that certain social media accounts are posting blurred images of what they claim are the question papers for Kannada, English and Mathematics exams. In some instances, users are demanding a payment of Rs 100, with messages like "If you pay Rs 100, you will get the question paper."
One video, described as "Second PUC Exam Question for Wife," has reportedly gained traction online. The report also mentions an account named 'Delta Kannadiga,' which is alleged to be collecting money from up to 37 different accounts under the pretense of providing the leaked papers.
In response to these developments, KSEAB President Prakash Nittali has denied any breach of security. Clarifying to News18 Kannada, Nittali stated that the Second PUC question papers have not been leaked. He dismissed the circulating posts as entirely false and assured that the education department has no cause for concern.
He confirmed that the examination board has taken note of the social media accounts involved in confusing students. A decision has been made to file a formal complaint with the cyber police, who will investigate the matter further.
The Second PUC examinations are set to be held from February 28 to March 17. A total of 7,10,363 students have registered for the exams, which will be conducted across 1,217 centers. To ensure the integrity of the examination process, webcasting has been made mandatory at every center.
