The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 April session began today, April 2, with candidates appearing for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech). The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the exam in two shifts, with Shift 1 running from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. The second shift will take place from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. As Shift 1 has now concluded, an analysis of the exam is available, covering the difficulty level, subject-wise distribution, and overall student feedback.

JEE Main 2025 April 2 Shift 1 Exam Analysis

The Shift 1 paper had a mix of conceptual and numerical questions across all three subjects, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. According to initial inputs, the overall difficulty level of the paper was moderate, with Physics being tricky, Mathematics being moderate, and Chemistry being easy.

Student Reactions

Students who appeared for Shift 1 had mixed reactions. While Chemistry was generally considered easy, many found Physics to be tricky and time-consuming. Mathematics was rated as moderate. Most candidates agreed that the paper followed a similar pattern to previous years, with slight variations in topic weightage. Effective time management was key to handling the paper efficiently.

Anil Kapasi, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Arihant Academy said, “The paper was of moderate to difficult level. Physics had a mix of conceptual and numerical problems, Chemistry was the most straightforward with NCERT-based questions, while Mathematics was the most time-consuming and challenging.”

Subject-Wise Analysis:

  • Physics: The section was moderately tricky, with emphasis on topics like Modern Physics, Electromagnetic Induction, and Work, Power & Energy. Numerical questions required precise formula application.
  • Chemistry: Chemistry was the easiest, with a strong focus on NCERT. Organic Chemistry included questions on Aldehydes and Carboxylic Acids, Inorganic Chemistry covered Coordination Compounds and Chemical Bonding, while Physical Chemistry featured Thermodynamics and Solutions.
  • Mathematics: Mathematics was the toughest, with lengthy and complex problems. Key topics included Definite Integrals, Probability, and Conic Sections. Effective time management and strong problem-solving skills were crucial.

JEE Main 2025 April 2 Shift 2 Exam Analysis

The Shift 2 paper had a different difficulty distribution compared to Shift 1. As per initial student reactions:

  • Mathematics was the easiest among the three subjects.
  • Chemistry was of moderate difficulty.
  • Physics was rated as easy to moderate.

The Mathematics section was straightforward, with familiar question patterns and manageable calculations. Chemistry, though moderate, had some conceptual and numerical questions. Physics had a mix of direct formula-based and conceptual problems but was easier compared to Shift 1.

Students had mixed reactions to the paper. While Chemistry was simple in Shift 1, it was of moderate difficulty in Shift 2. Many found Physics to be easier in Shift 2 compared to Shift 1, where it was tricky. Mathematics, which was moderate in Shift 1, was rated easy in Shift 2. The overall exam pattern remained similar to previous years, with slight variations in topic weightage. Time management played a crucial role in both shifts.

JEE Main 2025 Session 2 Exam Schedule

The JEE Main 2025 April session will continue on April 3, 4, 7, and 8 for BTech and BE papers. The BArch and BPlanning papers (Paper 2A and Paper 2B) will be conducted on April 9, 2025. Candidates can check for further updates and answer keys after each shift.
