JEE Main 2025 April 3 Exam Analysis: Shift 1 Paper Review, Difficulty Level & Student Reactions

The JEE Main 2025 April 3 shift 1 exam has concluded, with students finding Mathematics lengthy, Physics conceptual, and Chemistry balanced.

April 03, 2025 / 13:21 IST

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the JEE Main 2025 session 2 exam in April. The exam for April 3 is being held in two shifts, with the first shift concluding at 12 noon and the second shift scheduled from 3 pm to 6 pm. Candidates appearing for the second shift must reach the exam centre on time, as late arrivals will not be permitted to enter the examination hall.

The first shift of the JEE Main 2025 April 3 exam has concluded. Based on student feedback, the overall difficulty level of the paper was easy to moderate. Mathematics was reported to be easy to moderate but lengthy, requiring significant time for calculations. Physics was found to be easy to moderate, while Chemistry was considered very easy by most candidates.

Student Reactions and Difficulty Level

Students who appeared for the exam shared that Mathematics had time-consuming problems, especially in topics like integration and conic sections. Physics included a mix of theoretical and numerical questions, with topics such as modern physics and wave optics being prominent. Chemistry, on the other hand, was perceived as straightforward, with direct questions that did not require lengthy calculations.

Anil Kapasi, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Arihant Academy, said, “The exam was considered moderate to difficult. Mathematics was notably lengthy and challenging, requiring extensive calculations. Physics was moderate, with a mix of conceptual and numerical questions. Chemistry was the easiest, with questions primarily based on NCERT concepts.”

Subject-Wise Analysis:

  • Physics: This section was moderate in difficulty. It included a balanced mix of theoretical and numerical questions. Key topics covered were Mechanics, Electrostatics, Optics, Units & Measurements, Modern Physics, Thermodynamics, Waves, and Magnetism. Some questions were straightforward, while others required deeper conceptual understanding.
  • Chemistry: Chemistry was the most accessible section, with questions directly aligned with NCERT content. The section had a balanced distribution between Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry. Topics such as Coordination Compounds, Chemical Bonding, and Organic Reaction Mechanisms were prominently featured.
  • Mathematics: Mathematics was the most challenging and time-consuming section. It featured complex problems requiring extensive calculations. Important topics included Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Probability, Matrices, Permutations & Combinations, 3D Geometry, Vectors, and Conic Sections. Effective time management was crucial to navigate this section successfully.

Overall, the exam was balanced, with each section testing different skill sets. Students who had a strong grasp of concepts and practiced time management were better positioned to perform well.

Shift 2 Exam Timings

Candidates appearing for the second shift must ensure they reach the exam centre on time. The entry gates will open at 1:30 pm and close at 2:30 pm. Invigilators will provide instructions between 2:30 pm and 2:50 pm, followed by the login process at 2:50 pm. The exam will commence at 3:00 pm. To avoid last-minute issues, candidates should check their exam centre address carefully and plan their journey accordingly.

A more detailed analysis, including memory-based questions and expert reviews, will be available later. Candidates are advised to check for updates after the conclusion of both shifts.
