IIT JEE Advanced 2025: In a major development for aspiring engineering students, the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2025 will allow candidates three attempts instead of the previous two. The authorities announced this change to provide more opportunities for students to secure admission to prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Key Changes and Eligibility Criteria
Increased Attempts: Candidates can now appear for JEE Advanced a maximum of three times in three consecutive years.
Age Limit: Candidates born on or after October 1, 2000, are eligible. SC, ST, and PwD candidates get a five-year age relaxation.
JEE Main 2025 Qualification: Candidates must rank among the top 2,50,000 in the BE/BTech paper (Paper I) of JEE Main 2025.
Category-wise Shortlisting: The number of candidates shortlisted from each category remains unchanged.
OCI/PIO Candidates: OCI/PIO candidates who secured their cards before March 4, 2021, are considered Indian nationals for seat allocation but are not eligible for reservation benefits.
Class 12 Eligibility: Candidates must have appeared for Class 12 (or equivalent) in 2023, 2024, or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
Previous IIT Admissions: Candidates who have previously been admitted to an IIT program, even if they didn't join or subsequently withdrew, are ineligible for JEE Advanced 2025. However, those admitted to IIT preparatory courses in 2024 are eligible.
