The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will officially close the regular application window for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 today, October 6, 2025. Candidates who have not yet submitted their forms are urged to complete the process immediately on the official website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
The GATE exam, a gateway to postgraduate programs (M.Tech, M.E., Ph.D.) in IITs, IISc, NITs, and other renowned institutions, as well as for PSU recruitments, is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and the IITs on behalf of the Ministry of Education. This year, IIT Guwahati is the organizing institute.
The application fee structure is designed to encourage early registration. While the regular fee window is now closed, candidates can still apply with a late fee until October 9.

For Female/SC/ST/PwD Candidates:
Regular Fee (Until Sept 28): Rs 1,000 per test paper
Late Fee (Sept 29 - Oct 9): Rs 1,500 per test paper
For All Other Candidates:
Regular Fee (Until Sept 28): Rs 2,000 per test paper
Late Fee (Sept 29 - Oct 9): Rs 2,500 per test paper

Follow these simple steps to complete your registration before the portal closes:
Step 1. Visit the official portal at gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
Step 2. Click on the "New Candidate Registration" or "GATE 2026 Application" link on the homepage.
Step 3. Log in using the generated Enrollment ID and password.
Step 4. Carefully fill in all personal, academic, and examination paper details.
Step 5. Scan and upload all the required documents in the specified format and size.
Step 6. Proceed to the payment gateway and pay the requisite fee using a credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI.
Step 7. After successful payment, submit the final form and download the confirmation page. Keep a printout for all future correspondence.
