Life was not easy for Deepesh Kumari and her family in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Her father, Govind Kumar, sold pakodas and snacks on the street for 25 years to support his wife and five children. The family of seven lived in one small room with limited resources. But despite their challenges, education was always a priority.

Deepesh studied hard from a young age. She attended Shishu Adarsh Vidya Mandir in Bharatpur and excelled in her exams, scoring 98% in 10th class and 89% in 12th class. She went on to earn a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from MBM Engineering College in Jodhpur and an M.Tech from IIT Bombay.

After working for a year in a private company, Deepesh decided to pursue her dream of becoming a civil servant. She left her job and began preparing for the UPSC exam. Her first attempt in 2020 was unsuccessful, but she did not give up. Using her savings, she moved to Delhi for coaching and tried again.

In 2021, her hard work paid off. Deepesh achieved an All India Rank 93 in the UPSC exam and also secured 4th rank in the EWS category. She became an IAS officer and was assigned to the Jharkhand cadre.

Deepesh’s success inspired her siblings as well. Her younger sister is now a doctor at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, one brother is studying MBBS at AIIMS Guwahati, and another is pursuing his studies in Latur.

She is an inspiration to many young people across India who aspire to achieve great things despite limited means.
