Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has stepped forward to support the education of a student from Karnataka by sponsoring her Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) degree. Jyoti Kanabooramath, a resident of Rabakavi village in Bagalkot district, had scored an impressive 83% in her Class 12 exams but faced financial hurdles in pursuing higher education.
Jyoti's father, Teerthayya, runs a small tea shop, making it difficult to afford her college fees. Determined to continue her studies, Jyoti sought help from local contractor Anil Hunashikatti, who assisted her in securing admission to BLDE College in Jamkhandi.
Hunashikatti initially explored options for fee concessions but realized it wouldn't be enough. Recalling a past instance where cricketer KL Rahul had helped a student, he reached out to his friend, who happens to be Rishabh Pant’s manager.
Upon learning about Jyoti's situation, Pant's team immediately responded by transferring Rs. 40,000 directly to the college on July 17, covering her first-semester fees.
Overwhelmed by the support, Jyoti expressed her heartfelt thanks to Pant, stating that his generosity had given her a chance to pursue her dream of a career in computer applications. She also hoped that Pant's act of kindness would inspire more support for underprivileged students.
Pant's gesture follows similar initiatives by other cricketers like KL Rahul, highlighting how sports personalities are increasingly contributing to education and social causes. Such acts not only uplift deserving students but also set a powerful example of giving back to society.
