CBSE 12th Geography Paper Analysis 2025

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) successfully conducted the Class 12 Geography board exam today, February 24, 2025. The exam took place in a single shift from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM across various centers nationwide. As students walked out of the examination halls, mixed reactions and feedback emerged regarding the difficulty level and overall structure of the paper.

The CBSE Class 12 Geography exam followed the prescribed format, consisting of two parts: Part A (Fundamentals of Human Geography) and Part B (India: People and Economy). The question paper included a mix of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), short-answer questions, and long-answer questions. According to experts, the paper was well-balanced, covering key topics from the syllabus while testing students' analytical and application-based skills.

"The Geography paper was well-structured and balanced. While source-based questions were the most challenging, the paper was manageable within the allotted time. Students were able to complete all questions, including map work, with confidence and are optimistic about scoring well," said Amit Kumar Sharma, Educator Senior Years, Shiv Nadar School, Noida.

Students reported that the map-based questions were straightforward and aligned with the expected topics. However, some found the data interpretation and diagram-based questions slightly challenging. "The map section was easy, but the graph-based questions required careful analysis," shared a student from Noida.

"The Geography question paper (all the sets) was very balanced. The questions In set 3 were a little tricky and indirect but the questions in set 1 and 2 questions were direct. The MCQs in Section A and the case study in Section B were both knowledge-based and competency-based and balanced. In Section C and Section D, detailed questions were competency-based and the level was average to difficult. In Section E, the Map questions were very easy. Students who had prepared thoroughly would score well," said Kanta Bhattacharjee, Geography PGT, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Ghaziabad.

"I was able to complete the paper within the given time. I feel great about my performance and am happy with how it went." – Akshat Kashyap, Grade 12, Shiv Nadar School Noida.

Reactions from students varied, with many describing the paper as moderate in difficulty. "The questions were mostly from the NCERT textbook, and the paper was manageable if you had prepared thoroughly," said Ravi Kumar, a Class 12 student from Delhi.

Educators and subject experts praised the CBSE for setting a balanced and comprehensive question paper. They also highlighted the importance of time management during the exam. "Students who practiced previous years' papers and mock tests would have found it easier to manage their time effectively," added one Geography teacher from Noida.

As the CBSE board exam continues, students are now focusing on preparing for their upcoming papers.
