The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) is set to conduct the Class 12 board exams from 1 February 2025. Around 12.92 lakh students will appear for the exams at 1,677 centres across the state. Authorities have implemented strict security measures to ensure fairness and prevent malpractice.

Exam Schedule and Entry Guidelines BSEB Class 12 Exam

The first day of the examination will see two major subjects being conducted:

  • First Shift (9:30 AM – 12:45 PM): Biology and Philosophy (5,04,657 students)
  • Second Shift (2:00 PM – 5:15 PM): Economics (75,281 students)

Students must arrive at the examination centre at least an hour before the exam starts. Entry gates will close 30 minutes before the exam, and late arrivals will face strict legal consequences, including a two-year ban and an FIR. In Patna district alone, 75,917 students will take the exam at 85 centres.

Security and Fair Exam Measures

Authorities have deployed zonal, sub-zonal, and super-zonal magistrates to oversee the examinations. Each centre will have adequate police presence, and students will be frisked at two levels, at the entry gate and inside the examination hall.

CCTV cameras will monitor all centres, with videographers assigned for every 500 students. No unauthorised personnel will be allowed within 200 metres of the exam centres.

Exam Rules for Students

  • Prohibited Items: Electronic watches, smartwatches, magnetic watches, mobile phones, calculators, Bluetooth devices, and earphones are banned. Only analogue watches are permitted.
  • Question Paper Distribution: Each student will receive one of 10 different question paper sets (A–J) to prevent cheating.
  • OMR and Answer Booklets: These will be pre-printed with students’ photos, roll numbers, subject details, and exam dates. OMR sheets will be collected midway through the exam—11:00 AM in the first shift and 3:30 PM in the second shift.

Special Provisions for Students

  • Girls’ Model Exam Centres: Each district will have four exam centres exclusively for girls, staffed with female invigilators and security personnel. In Patna, these centres include BMP-5 School Camp Jail, Arya Kanya Higher Secondary School, Dayanand Kanya Vidyalaya, and Mahesh High School.
  • Facilities for Disabled Students: Extra time of 20 minutes per hour will be granted to disabled students. Those requiring a writer must obtain prior approval from the District Education Officer.

Temporary Relaxation in Dress Code

In a relief for students, BSEB has temporarily allowed footwear inside the exam halls due to the ongoing cold weather. From 1st to 5th February 2025, students will be permitted to wear shoes and socks, despite previous guidelines prohibiting them. The board will reassess the weather conditions after 5th February before deciding on further relaxations.

With strict security and well-defined rules in place, the BSEB aims to conduct a smooth and fair examination process for all Intermediate students across Bihar.
