BPSC Students Protest Against Normalization Rule for CCE 70th Prelims, Police Lathi-Charge

Hundreds of students and candidates, angered by the recent changes in rules for the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) preliminary examination, took to the streets in Patna on December 06. The protesters gathered outside the BPSC office, chanting slogans against the new rules and demanding their immediate rollback.

The new rules, introduced by the BPSC, have sparked widespread discontent among the candidates. They argue that the changes are unnecessary and discriminatory, hindering their preparation efforts. The sudden shift in rules, they claim, has not only affected their studies but also raises concerns about the fairness of the examination.

The situation escalated as the protests turned violent, prompting police intervention. To control the unruly crowd, the police resorted to a lathi-charge.

The BPSC, on the other hand, maintains that the normalization process and the use of multiple question paper sets are essential to prevent paper leaks. However, the opposition argues that this approach could lead to disparities in question difficulty, compromising the exam's integrity.

As the situation remains tense, it is expected that the government and the BPSC will soon issue a formal statement to address the concerns of the protesting students and restore confidence in the examination process.
