Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has directed the state’s Education Department to promptly identify vacant teaching posts in government schools and begin preparations for the fourth phase of the Teachers' Recruitment Examination (TRE-4).
Taking to social media platform X, Kumar announced, “The Education Department has been instructed to identify vacancies of teachers in government schools and initiate the process to conduct the TRE-4 examination at the earliest. The state government has already clarified that the benefit of 35 per cent reservation for women in appointments will be given to those who are residents of Bihar.”

According to officials, the upcoming TRE-4 exam is likely to open up more than 1.20 lakh teaching positions, offering fresh opportunities for aspiring educators across the state. A formal notification regarding the recruitment process is expected to be released soon.
Recruitment So FarThe Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will oversee the TRE-4 examination, which will cover appointments for primary, middle, secondary, and senior secondary school teachers.
Bihar Education Minister Sunil Kumar confirmed that the exam would be conducted before the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming assembly elections is enforced. The state assembly elections are slated to take place later this year.
With this move, the Bihar government aims to strengthen the education sector while addressing the critical shortage of teachers in state-run schools.
