The Class 9 English annual examination in Assam’s Barpeta district, scheduled for March 20, has been cancelled following a question paper leak on social media. Officials confirmed the cancellation to ensure fairness in the examination process.
Barpeta Inspector of Schools, Ratul Kumar Das, issued an order informing all school heads in the district about the cancellation. The order stated, "I would like to inform you that the English paper of Class 9 annual examination which was scheduled to be held on March 20 is hereby postponed due to unavoidable circumstances."
Authorities suspect that the question paper was circulated on social media, leading to concerns over the integrity of the examination. "We are currently verifying all claims. To ensure fairness, we have decided to cancel the examination," Das added.
A district-level internal examination committee official confirmed that they became aware of the leak on Wednesday evening. The official stated, "We suspect that the paper went viral on social media. We are verifying all claims. We cannot take any risk and have cancelled the examination."
The board will announce a new date for the Assam Class 9 English annual exam later. Students have been advised to stay updated through the official website for further information.
