YEAR EVENTS
1960 - The company was incorporated on 28th January, at Mumbai as a
Private Limited Company and converted into a Public Limited
Company on 15th May, 1972.
- The Company manufacture compressed air equipment, air tools
and
other allied equipments mainly used in construction, mining
and
engineering industries. At present the company manufacture
air
compressors, rock drills, pushers, lubricators, grinders and
couplings.
1962 - 792 shares issued to Atlas Copso AB, Sweden.
1965 - 444 Shares issued to Atlas Copco AB, Sweden against, payment
for
capital goods.
1971 - Shares subdivided. 2,82,000 bonus shares issued.
1977 - In June 1972, 3,21,340 shares issued at a premium of Rs 7.50
per
share; 32,090 shares reserved for Indian Directors and
employees
and 2,89,250 shares offered to the public.
1978 - 803,340 bonus shares issued in propn. 1:1. 8,11,216 shares
were
then issued: 7,71,216 shares as rights to Resident Indian
shareholders in propn. 6:5 and 40,000 shares to Indian
directors
and employees.
1982 - 24,17,896 Bonus shares issued in prop. 1:1 in September.
1986 - The Company undertook to set up a new factory at
Mahalunge-Ingle
near Chakan in a backward area in Maharashtra State about 25
kms.
from Pune.
1987 - Atlas Copco Tools AB, a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlas
Copco
AB, Sweden, acquired Chicago Pneumatic, U.S.A. The agreement
includes transfer of foreign shareholdings in CPT India Ltd.
and
Revathi CP Equipments, Ltd. However, Atlas Copco (India)
Ltd.
and CPT (India), Ltd. would continue to exist as separate
entities.
- 24,17,896 bonus shares issued in propn. 1:2.
1988 - The new products introduced during the period were industrial
compressors like GA-2007, silenced and packaged versions of
other
GA Compressors, fully hydraulic water well rigs. The Company
proposed to take up ROC 400 series of crawler drills for the
mining sector.
1989 - The sole selling agency for Coromant products of Sandvik Asia
Ltd. was terminated effective from 1st February.
1990 - New products such as line drilling equipment and light wagon
drills for surface mining were launched.
1992 - The Company has absorbed technology to introduce oil-free
compressors in India.
1993 - The Company does not have a specified Research and
Development
Department.
1994 - New products are developed and tested for alternate materials
as
well as aggregates, in close coordination with various
vendors.
1995 - During the year, the Company had introduced an Early
Voluntary
Retirement Scheme for its employees.
- The Compressor Technique Division has already acquired ISO
9001
certification and the Construction and Mining Technique
Division
will acquire this certification by the end of the year.
- The Construction and Mining Technique Division is working on
a
new product viz. track mounted surface drilling equipment,
which
will be launched.
1996 - In February, Det Norske Veritas, a leading certifying body
awarded the Certificate of ISO 9002 for the manufacturing
plant
at Dapodi.
- The Construction and Mining Technique Division has launched a
new
product viz. track mounted surface drilling equipment, which
has
successfully completed rigorous trials at customers' mining
sites.
1997 - The Company took a series of measures such as restricting of
business, discontinuation of manufacture of compressor
elements
and instead import technically superior elements from
principals
and concentrate an assembly of compressors and shifting of
operation from Mumbai to Dapodi in Pune.
- The compressor division is also entering new lines of
operators
and is entering into a collaboration agreement with Atlas
Copco
Comptech, US, for medium and large centrifugal compressors in
the range of 700 KW to 2 MW.
- The construction and mining equipment division is also
entering
new product lines such as pneumatic chipping hammer and rock
drills, mainly for the parent company's export markets.
1998 - Atlas Copco (India) Ltd have introduced their new range of
Construction tools.
- Atlas Copco (India) Ltd, part of the Swedish multinational
Atlas Copco group, is restructuring its construction and
mining
technique division and entering new product segments to focus
on the high-growth infrastructure projects business. The
division is also being restructured with a view to making it
a
manufacturing unit for the group's global operations.
- The Credit Rating Information Services of India Ltd (Crisil)
has
assigned a P1+ rating to the Rs.6-crore commercial paper (CP)
programme of Atlas Copco (India) Ltd. The rating agency has
also
reaffirmed the FAA+ rating assigned to the company's
fixed-deposit (FD) programme.
- Atlas Copco has launched a slew of new products which would
help
the company gain a better footing in the mining and
construction
equipment industry.
- Atlas Copco India Ltd (ACIL) will develop a full-fledged
service
support network for its products, Giulio Mazzalupi.
- As a first step, it has successfully introduced voluntary
retirement scheme (VRS).
- The company's construction and mining technique division has
launched new products like pneumatic breakers and chipping
hammers which have been well accepted by the market.
1999 - Atlas Copco (India) Ltd has embarked on a programme
`Investing
for the future' which lays stress on development of new
products
like centrifugal compressors for the local market.
The company has made part payment of one-time lumpsum royalty
of Rs 2.45 million to Atlas Copco Comptec USA, for supply of
technical know-how for these compressors.
2000 - Swiss engineering giant Atlas Copco AB has decided to merge
two
of its three Indian affiliates Atlas Copco India and Chicago
Pneumatic India.
2002
-Atlas Copco India Ltd informs that Mr Andre Schmitz, MD of the
company has been re-appointed for a further period of 3 years. Mr
Freek Nijdam, Director of the company has resigned from the Board.
-Atlas Copco India Ltd enters into definitive agreement with Utkal
Investments Ltd, for sale of 3,20,200 equity shares of Revathi
Equipment Ltd Coimbatore at a price of Rs 234 per share.
2003
- Atlas Copco (India) Ltd informs BSE that the Board of Directors at
its meeting held on April 29, 2003 accepted the resignation of Mr
Hari Shankar Singhania - Chairman of the company and elected Mr. Anil
Kumar Hirjee as Chairman of the company. Further, Mr. Andre Schmitz
resigned as Managing Director of the company effective April 29, 2003
however he will continue to be Director on the Board.
-Signs Wage settlement with Atlas Copco Employees Federation at
Dapodi, Pune.
2006
-Atlas Copco India Ltd appointed Mr. Mahmoud Mustapha as Managing
Director effective from October 01, 2006.
2009
- Atlas Copco India Ltd has appointed Mr. Filip Vandenberghe as an
Additional Director of the Company with immediate effect.
