A young man was brutally murdered while police officials were asleep in a nearby Police Control Room (PCR) vehicle in Ahmedabad. An investigation was launched against the police officials after a video of the sleeping officers went viral on social media.
Five assailants attacked two youths in Ahmedabad on Monday night, leaving one dead on the spot and the other critically injured and hospitalised.
The locals who gathered at the scene found a police PCR vehicle parked nearby, where officers were asleep on a cot, unaware of the murder. Angered, the villagers woke them up, confronted them, and recorded a video that has now gone viral.
Responding to the viral video on X, Ahmedabad police said, “Action is underway against the police personnel responsible for this matter.”
The incident occurred when two youths, identified as Vishal Shrimali and Priyesh, both residents of Narora, objected to verbal abuse by a group of five men, The Times of India reported.
The assailants brutally attacked the two with knives, leaving one dead and the other critically injured. "A group of five men, led by Jaysinh Solanki and Chirag Vaghela, arrived at the spot and began hurling abuses. When Vijay and Vachheta objected, the situation escalated into violence. Solanki allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Vijay in the chest, killing him on the spot. Vachheta, who tried to intervene, suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition," a police official told TOI.
"Even after the locals confronted the police, there was no immediate response. It was only after the incident gained public attention that the police took swift action, arresting five suspects," said a local resident.
