In a brazen bid for social media clout, a 22-year-old man has been arrested in northeast Delhi for performing life-threatening stunts on a motorcycle and harassing bus passengers, all in an apparent effort to shoot reels, police confirmed on Tuesday.

The accused, identified as Tushar Puniya, a resident of Khajuri Khas, was apprehended after a video of his reckless behaviour went viral, exposing a disturbing trend of endangering public safety for online fame.

The incident, which surfaced on social media platforms on February 16, captured Puniya riding a motorcycle without a registration number plate through the bustling streets of Delhi.

The footage reveals him not only manoeuvring dangerously through traffic but also reaching out to open the doors of multiple vehicles, including a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus, while they were still in motion.

тАЬAction against those who disregard road rules. Taking cognizance of the viral video, Thana New Usmanpur has tightened the noose against stunt performers under Section 281 of the Justice Code and the MV Act,тАЭ the Delhi Police wrote on its X handle. The police, however, did not reveal the face of the accused in the video.

Law enforcement officials were particularly alarmed by the absence of a registration plate on the motorcycle, which is likely a deliberate move by the accused to shield his identity while committing the offences. Authorities have confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine whether Puniya has been involved in similar incidents in the past.

A police team was immediately formed to track down the individual. Investigators meticulously scanned closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the surrounding area and conducted a frame-by-frame analysis of the viral video to establish the biker's identity. The relentless effort culminated in Puniya's arrest and the subsequent recovery of the motorcycle used in the commission of the crime.
