CCTV footage later showed him wandering near the Ganga canal at night.

A 26-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut disappeared from his home on the night of his wedding and was found three days later in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

The man, identified as Mohsin, went missing late on November 27, shortly after his wedding festivities ended. According to reports, he stepped out of the house on the pretext of buying a light bulb but never returned, leading his family to file a missing-person complaint with the police.

According to a report with India Today, on the wedding night, Mohsin’s wife had asked him to get a smaller bulb as the lights in their room were too bright.

Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from the area in Haridwar, which captured Mohsin walking alone near the Ganga canal late at night.

This raised alarm within both the family and the police, who feared he might have harmed himself.

Search operations were launched along the canal and surrounding areas, but the efforts yielded no leads for nearly two days. The breakthrough came on Monday, when Mohsin contacted his father from Haridwar using a passer-by’s mobile phone.

He informed him that he was unharmed and wished to return home.

Acting on this information, a police team from Meerut, accompanied by Mohsin’s father and a few relatives, travelled to Haridwar. They eventually found him near a railway station, where he had been wandering for several days.

During questioning, Mohsin told police that he panicked on his wedding night and impulsively boarded a bus headed toward Haridwar.

He admitted to spending the next three nights roaming in and around the station premises, unsure of what to do next.

Saradhana Station House Officer (SHO) Dinesh Pratap Singh told news agency PTI that Mohsin may have consumed “something" given by friends, which may have contributed to his state of mind.

“He may have taken some kind of medicine on his friend’s advice, which caused restlessness," Singh told PTI.

Circle Officer of Saradhana, Ashutosh, said that Mohsin had been safely reunited with his family. The officer described him as appearing nervous and withdrawn during the questioning.

“He seems a bit nervous by nature. He did not say anything specific. There is no need to dig into someone’s personal life," Ashutosh said.
