Telangana weather alert: Hyderabad to receive heavy rain till May 31; check district-wise IMD forecast

The weather department has warned of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (40-50 km/h) affecting various districts in Telangana until May 31. While the orange alert is in place until May 29, a yellow alert will remain active until May 31.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has issued an orange alert for parts of Telangana, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall on May 28 and 29. The alert comes as part of an updated weather advisory, with forecasts of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h in many areas of the state.

While the orange alert is valid until May 29, a yellow alert will remain in place across Telangana until May 31, Jagran reported.

The weather department has also forecast rain and gusty winds in Hyderabad, and a yellow alert remains active, with generally cloudy skies expected till May 31. “Light to moderate rain accompanied with gusty winds is very likely to occur in the city. Hazy conditions are very likely to prevail during morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31 degree Celsius and 24 degree Celsius respectively,” the IMD bulletin said.

District-wise forecast

May 28: An orange alert has been issued for Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Jangaon, and Siddipet, where heavy to very heavy rain is likely at isolated locations. A yellow alert is in place for heavy rain in Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal–Malkajgiri, Vikarabad and Sangareddy.

May 29: Heavy to very heavy rain is expected at isolated spots in Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Khammam districts (orange alert). Heavy rain (yellow alert) is also expected in Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, and Warangal.

May 30 to June 1: A yellow alert continues for light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers with gusty winds at some places.

June 1 to 3: Rain is expected at various locations, but no major warnings have been issued. Residents are advised to stay updated through official IMD bulletins and take necessary precautions during this period of unstable weather.
