A Surat-based textile trader killed his wife's brother and sister after a quarrel over the latter's marriage with him at their home in Om Sai Jalaram Nagar society.

According to a report by The Times of India, the accused was identified as Sandip Gaud. Both victims, Nishchay Kashyap and Mamta Kashyap had come to Surat from Prayagraj with their mother, Shakuntala Devi, October 4 for shopping as Nishchay's marriage was scheduled for December.

The family got into a heated argument after Sandip raised the topic of marrying Mamta. In a fit of rage, he attacked them with a knife, fatally stabbing the brother-sister duo.

Devi was also injured in the incident and is under treatment at the hospital. Udhna police booked Sandip for murder and arrested him an hour before he could flee the city.

Udhna police inspector SN Desai told TOI: "We got a call around 10:30 PM about this unfortunate incident. Sandip Gaud and his brother Rahul Gaud married two sisters, Varsha and Lado.

Sandip has three children with his wife, Varsha. However, he developed a liking for Varsha’s younger sister, Mamta, who is unmarried. He often argued with Varsha, insisting that he wanted to marry Mamta.

As per the report the incident occurred on Wednesday night, when the family was resting on the upper floor of their home. Sandip went upstairs and started talking about his marriage with Mamta. As Nishchay objected to it, heated arguments took place, which turned violent when Sandip attacked all three with a knife, killing Mamta and Nishchay.

According to police, Nishchay Kashyap worked as a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) employee in Uttar Pradesh, and his marriage was scheduled for December this year.
