Red Fort blast: PM Modi meets survivors at Delhi's LNJP Hospital, to chair key security panel meet today

Red Fort blast: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) and the cabinet meeting at around 5:30 pm on Wednesday to review the situation following the blast that shook the entire nation on Monday evening and claimed at least 12 lives.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the LNJP Hospital in Delhi on Wednesday and met the survivors of the Red Fort blast that happened earlier this week.

According to a report by PTI, there was heavy security deployment in and around the hospital where the injured are undergoing treatment. Upon landing from Bhutan, the prime minister went straight to the LNJP hospital to meet those injured after the blast, officials said.

He met and interacted with the injured and wished them a speedy recovery, officials said, adding that he was also briefed by officials and doctors at the hospital.

 

A powerful explosion ripped through a slow-moving vehicle on Monday near the Red Fort traffic signal, claiming the lives of 12 people.

Later today, around 5:30 pm, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) and a Cabinet meeting to review the situation. The discussions are likely to focus on strengthening security measures and preventing similar incidents in the future.

Expressing deep sorrow over the deadly car explosion, PM Modi, during his Bhutan visit, assured tha the government would take strict action against those responsible.

“The whole country is standing with the affected families in this hour of grief,” Modi said. He emphasised that the investigative agencies will thoroughly pursue the matter to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“A tragic incident took place in Delhi. I can understand the pain of the families who lost their loved ones," PM Modi said in Thimphu, adding, “I have come here with a heavy heart. The whole country is standing with the affected families in this hour of grief. Our agencies will go to the bottom of the controversy. All those responsible will be brought to justice."
