Bengaluru-based firm began as a carpooling service in 2015 and has since expanded into taxi services (local rides and outstation), rentals, etc. KNM Rao, CEO of Quick Ride, said: "At Quick Ride, we believe that the future of transportation is green, shared, and connected. With our growing fleet of electric taxis, including premium models like BYD E6 and BYD Emax7, as well as Tata Tigor and MG ZS, we are offering our customers a cleaner, greener way to travel. This dedicated pickup zone at Bengaluru airport reflects our commitment to building a smarter, more sustainable transportation ecosystem."
A company statement added, “The dedicated pickup zone is thoughtfully designed to reduce congestion and simplify passenger pickups, enhancing the overall travel experience while supporting Quick Ride’s mission to reduce urban traffic and carbon emissions.”
“Quick Ride’s latest initiative reaffirms its role as a pioneer in the shared mobility space, continuously evolving to meet the dynamic needs of modern commuters. The company has also reiterated its strong commitment to expanding its electric vehicle fleet and carpooling verticals, reinforcing its mission to promote green, shared mobility,” it further said.
Last month, BluSmart, backed by Gensol Engineering, abruptly suspended operations in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. This followed a probe by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) into Gensol Engineering, raising concerns over BluSmart’s viability.
Meanwhile, Refex Green Mobility Ltd (RGML), a subsidiary of Refex Industries, announced it is streamlining operations in Bengaluru by phasing out its airport-based EV taxi services, previously operated under Refex EV Fleet Services.
BluSmart had dedicated airport pick-up points, while Refex operated its fully electric fleet via BIAL’s official 'BLR Pulse' app.
In FY25, Kempegowda International Airport handled 41.88 million passengers, up from 37.53 million in the previous fiscal year. Despite this growth, the availability of airport cabs remains a persistent concern, with frequent complaints about long wait times and inadequate fleet strength at the designated Ola and Uber pick-up zones.
