A 22-year-old pregnant woman has been found dead under suspicious circumstances in Delhi, just four months after her wedding, prompting allegations of dowry harassment from her grieving family.

The woman, identified as Komal, also known as Varsha, was two months pregnant, according to officials, as reported by NDTV.

The incident came to light on Monday when the woman’s father was informed that his daughter had been admitted to a hospital in an unconscious state. Upon his arrival, doctors declared her dead. The exact cause of her death remains unclear as investigations begin.

Based on a complaint from Komal's family, police have registered a case of dowry harassment. As per NDTV report, the family alleges that her husband, Aman, and her in-laws consistently harassed her for more dowry. They have further claimed that her husband regularly beat her.

The couple, who wed on April 16, had been residing in the Badu Sarai area of the city. Police officials have confirmed that they have recorded statements from the woman's family and neighbours as part of their ongoing investigation.

This tragic event echoes another recent and horrifying dowry-related case in the region. Last week, a woman named Nikki died after being set on fire by her husband in Greater Noida, allegedly over dowry demands, a brutal act that occurred nine years into their marriage.

Disturbing videos from that case circulated online, showing the alleged assault and the victim, engulfed in flames, attempting to escape. She later succumbed to her injuries at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital.
