MHADA launches ‘Mhaadasathi’, an AI chatbot for instant citizen services.

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has launched a new artificial intelligence-powered chatbot to provide instant information to citizens. The initiative, named ‘Mhaadasathi’, is designed to drastically reduce the need for in-person office visits.

The service went live on MHADA’s official website on Thursday. A report by FPJ confirmed plans for a second phase, which will see the chatbot made available on mobile platforms.

Instant information in Marathi and English

The ‘Mhaadasathi’ agentic chatbot is operational in both Marathi and English. It offers citizens a centralised point to access information from all nine of MHADA’s regional boards.

A voice-based facility is also included to make the service more user-friendly and accessible. The AI-driven system is designed to learn and evolve based on citizen interactions and queries.

Wide range of queries addressed

According to FPJ, the chatbot can provide information on a comprehensive range of topics. These include MHADA’s functioning and latest regulations, details of housing projects across Maharashtra and tender notices.

Citizens can also check the status of applications submitted to MHADA offices and get details on the authority’s computerised lottery system for housing allocation.

Part of a broader digital push

Sanjiv Jaiswal, Chief Executive Officer and Vice President of MHADA, outlined the broader digital transformation underway.

He stated that waiting times at the Citizen Facilitation Centre have already been slashed to just seven or eight minutes.

To further prevent delays, citizens can now get their documents scanned and submitted at the centre itself. Jaiswal revealed that the next system update will allow people to submit documents directly from home.

The push for digital accessibility appears to be yielding results. Jaiswal noted that with nearly 15 crore documents now available on the MHADA website, the number of Right to Information (RTI) applications has seen a comparative decrease.
