A youth claiming affiliation to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang has issued a bomb threat against two serving ministers in the Jharkhand government, according to a report by The New Indian Express. The threat was delivered via a viral social media video, sparking an immediate police investigation.

The ministers targeted are Sudivya Kumar Sonu, who holds the portfolios for Urban Development and Higher Education, and Dr Irfan Ansari, the state’s Health Minister. In the video, the individual identifies himself as Ankit Kumar Mishra, a resident of Giridih district.
As reported by The New Indian Express, the youth in the video claims to have a “personal issue” with the two ministers. He threatens to blow them up within 24 hours but adds a caveat that he would refrain from taking any action if they were to apologise. He further asserts that he attended a recent NDA conference and that his family holds no responsibility for his actions, stating he has submitted a written declaration to that effect.
The Giridih police have launched a search for the accused and are investigating the case from all angles. “The matter came to our notice through social media. An investigation is underway, and we are examining all aspects before taking appropriate action,” Sadar SDPO Jitwahan Oraon was cited by The New Indian Express as saying.
Authorities have not yet been able to verify the authenticity of the youth’s claimed gang affiliations. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement works to trace the individual and assess the credibility of the threat.
When approached for comment, Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu reportedly stated that he was unaware of the video until well-wishers informed him. “I have heard about the video from some people close to me, but I do not know the details. It is the responsibility of the police to look into the matter and verify its authenticity,” he said.
