Sonam Raghuvanshi, wife of Indore tourist Raja Raghuvanshi who was found dead in Meghalaya, has been traced to Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur. Sonam had reportedly called her brother late last night to share details about her whereabouts. It was Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma’s post on X that confirmed the breakthrough.
“Within 7 days, a major breakthrough has been achieved by the #MeghalayaPolice in the Raja murder case… 3 assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, the female has surrendered, and the operation is still on to catch 1 more assailant. Well done #MeghalayaPolice,” Sangma wrote on X.

The Meghalaya Police has alleged that it was Sonam who hired men to kill her husband during their honeymoon trip. Meghalaya DGP I. Nongrang told news agency PTI that Sonam had ‘surrendered’ before the Uttar Pradesh Police. Subsequently, during late-night raids, the police arrested three men for their alleged involvement in the case. A fourth assailant is on the run, the police added. The men arrested during the raid have reportedly confessed that it was Sonam who hired them to murder Raja Raghuvanshi.

Raja Raghuvanshi's body was found in a gorge on June 2.
Sonam's alleged lover arrested
Latest reports say that Sonam Raghuvanshi's alleged lover Raj Kushwaha has been arrested for allegedly plotting the murder. Raj Kushwaha, who is also from Madhya Pradesh, had hatched the plot to eliminate Raja Raghuvanshi. The Meghalaya Police has said that Sonam will be brought back from Uttar Pradesh to face the charges. A CNN-News18 report citing police sources said that it was Sonam who had booked the tickets for the trip. She had also told her in-laws that the husband wants to visit the forested area.
