The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for parts of the National Capital Region as Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram witnessed heavy rains on Friday morning.
According to the nowcast issued by the weather department, a yellow alert is in place for Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad. Meanwhile, parts of the national capital region are also on yellow alert for light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
As per IMD nowcast, a yellow alert is in place for South East Delhi, Central Delhi, Shahadra and East Delhi. Meanwhile, moderate rainfall is expected over Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. No warning is in place for Gurugram and Faridabad as of 7:30 AM IST.
Due to heavy rains, metro services on a stretch of the Delhi Metro's Yellow Line from Vishwavidyalya to Central Secretariat stations were disrupted during peak office and school hours.
In a post on X, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said trains were running with delays between Vishwavidyalaya and Central Secretariat stations, while normal services were maintained across all other corridors of the network.

According to The Economic Times, several passengers also complained that the travel time from Vishwavidyalaya to GTB Nagar, stretched to nearly 50 minutes. As per the report, DMRC said that metro services were being gradually normalised and efforts were underway to restore smooth operations on the affected stations.
