Residents of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) woke up to cloudy skies and showers on Tuesday morning. The rain brought some relief from the humid weather, as the Indian Meteorological Department has forecast cloudy skies for Tuesday. A yellow alert has been issued for Gurugram and Faridabad.

The rain also had an impact on air travel. Indigo Airlines issued an advisory to passengers, asking them to check their flight status before leaving for the airport. “It is a rainy start in Delhi, with gentle showers expected through the day. Roads may be slower than usual, so if you are flying, do set out early. Our airport teams are on standby to assist,” the airline said.

Delhi witnessed a mix of cloudy weather and spells of rain on Monday, keeping the conditions pleasant. The maximum temperature was recorded at 28.6 degrees Celsius at Safdarjung, nearly six degrees below normal. The minimum temperature settled at 23.9 degrees Celsius, around three degrees below the season’s average. Humidity levels ranged between 88 and 100 per cent. Safdarjung station logged 1.2 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm.

According to the IMD, cloudy skies are expected to persist on Tuesday with one or two spells of light rain in different parts of the city. The minimum temperature is likely to hover around 22 degrees Celsius, while the maximum may remain between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius.

Different weather stations in the capital also reported varying amounts of rain on Monday. While Palam recorded 0.5 mm of rainfall, Lodhi Road reported 1.2 mm, the Ridge area saw 10.6 mm, and localities like Pusa, Mayur Vihar, and Najafgarh registered 1 mm each. Some parts of the city even witnessed moderate rainfall as the monsoon trough passed near Delhi.

Meanwhile, the showers have helped keep Delhi’s air clean. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported an air quality index (AQI) of 62 on Monday, placing it in the “satisfactory” category.
