A Sunday outing for a Delhi couple ended in tragedy when a speeding BMW rammed their motorcycle, killing 52-year-old Navjot Singh and leaving his wife, Sandeep Kaur, with severe injuries. The incident has raised troubling questions about the driver’s actions in the crucial moments after the crash.

According to police, the luxury car was being driven by Gaganpreet, accompanied by her husband, Parikshit. Both have been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving and concealing evidence.

The crash occurred when Navjot and Sandeep were on their way home to Pratap Nagar after visiting Bangla Sahib gurdwara and having lunch at Karnataka Bhavan in RK Puram. Their bike was rear-ended with such force that Navjot sustained fatal injuries, while Sandeep suffered serious trauma.

In her complaint, Sandeep alleged that despite her desperate pleas, the driver refused to take them to the nearest medical facility. “I kept requesting her to take us to a nearby hospital. My husband was unconscious and required urgent medical attention. But despite my repeated requests, she took us to a small hospital far away,” she told police, as quoted by NDTV.

Instead of heading to the closest hospital, Gaganpreet drove the injured couple nearly 19 kilometres to Nulife Hospital in GTB Nagar, a facility police sources told NDTV is partly owned by her father. Investigators are now examining whether this detour contributed to Navjot’s death by delaying critical treatment.

The decision has become central to the ongoing probe, with officers questioning why the victims were not rushed to a larger, better-equipped hospital in the vicinity. The allegation of deliberate diversion to a family-run institution has intensified public outrage over what some see as an attempt to prioritise personal connections over emergency care.
