In a move set to significantly boost the capital's event-hosting capacity, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has initiated a major e-auction for more than 200 premium properties. The initiative, launched on a licence-fee basis, is timed to provide additional space for gatherings during the upcoming festive period.

The diverse portfolio up for bidding includes over 115 function sites, numerous kiosks and several high-profile facilities including Aarambh Cafes and the Amrit Dhara Food Court. A shopping centre and approximately 80 locations for mobile towers are also part of the sale, according to a TOI report.

Officials confirmed that a mixture of old and newly identified sites will be offered for a licence period of 10 to 12 months. They emphasised that the properties, which are categorised into six distinct lots, comprise reclaimed or new sites and are free from any legal complications. The registration process and the acceptance of earnest money deposits are scheduled to begin on August 26, with the final date for registration set for September 25. The e-auctions themselves will start from September 30.

A significant part of the auction, as reported by TOI, involves the Aarambh Cafes. An official stated that five of these establishments will be offered. This includes three that have recently opened in Old Rajinder Nagar, Adhchini and Dwarka Sector 16 B, which currently operate on a nomination fee basis. The remaining two sites, located in Vikaspuri and Rohini, are reported to be under construction.

The Aarambh initiative was developed under the direction of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. It was launched as a transformative project following a tragic incident in July 2024 in Rajinder Nagar, where three students lost their lives. The libraries were created to provide students across the national capital with safe, affordable and modern study environments.

Other notable properties featured in the extensive auction list include a shopping centre in Dwarka Sector 23, eight kiosks at Vikas Sadan and the Amrit Dhara Food Court in Dwarka Sector 9, TOI reported. Interested bidders are directed to the official DDA website for comprehensive information and to participate in the upcoming e-auction.
