The Border Security Force (BSF) announced on Friday that it successfully thwarted a major infiltration attempt in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on the night of 8-9 May, killing at least seven terrorists linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) group and inflicting heavy damage on the Pakistan Rangers’ Dhandhar post.

The infiltration bid, detected by the BSF’s surveillance grid around 11 pm, involved a large group of terrorists attempting to cross the International Boundary under the cover of intense gunfire from the Pakistani side. The Dhandhar post, manned by Pakistan Rangers, reportedly provided direct support to the infiltrators, prompting a fierce exchange of fire.
“At around 2300 hours on 8 May 2025, BSF foiled a major infiltration bid at the International Boundary in Samba district, J&K,” BSF Jammu posted on X.
Thermal imaging and surveillance footage released by the BSF showed the extent of destruction inflicted on the Pakistani post, with officials confirming that the operation neutralised at least seven terrorists and severely damaged enemy infrastructure. No casualties were reported on the Indian side and the area remains under heightened security vigilance as search operations continue.
Earlier, Pakistan launched a series of attacks using missiles, kamikaze drones and unmanned aerial systems targeting military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur and other locations in Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat. The Indian armed forces responded swiftly, intercepting drones and missiles and ensuring there were no losses on the Indian side.
These developments follow India’s “Operation Sindoor” on May 7, which saw Indian forces strike nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), reportedly killing around 100 terrorists. The operation was a direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of at least 26 civilians, including tourists and triggered a wave of military and diplomatic activity between the two neighbours.
