Brazalian model molested in Bengaluru; cops take delivery agent into custody

A 21-year-old delivery agent has been arrested in Bengaluru on allegations of molesting a Brazilian model at her residence in the RT Nagar area, according to reports.

The incident, which occurred on October 17, began when the woman, who had recently moved to the city on an employment visa, placed an order for groceries through a delivery application. The accused, identified as Kumar, arrived at her first-floor apartment to complete the delivery. The model was alone in the flat she shares with three other foreign nationals at the time.

As she went to collect her order, Kumar allegedly touched her inappropriately. The woman managed to push him away and secure the door before he could enter the flat, officials stated.

Distressed by the encounter, the model did not report the incident to the police immediately. It was only days later, after confiding in her colleagues, that her employer, Karthik Vinayak, assisted her in approaching the RT Nagar police station.

Law enforcement acted promptly upon receiving the formal complaint. “We received a complaint from the Brazilian model on Saturday, and within a few hours we apprehended the accused from his residence,” said JC Nagar Sub-Division ACP Tanveer Sait, was quoted by HT as saying.

Police confirmed that closed-circuit television footage from the apartment building corroborated the woman’s account of the events. Following verification, Kumar was taken into custody on October 25.

“We booked him under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. He was produced before the ACMM court on Sunday and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days,” ACP Sait added.

During police questioning, investigators stated that Kumar confessed to the offence. The delivery platform he worked for has since removed him from his position. He has been sent to Parappana Agrahara Central Jail as the police investigation continues, with authorities now focused on recording witness statements and reviewing further evidence.
