Gaganpreet Kaur, the woman accused in the Delhi BMW crash case, has tested negative for alcohol, which means she was not drunk at the time of the accident, News18 reported.
She was arrested for allegedly driving the car that hit a two-wheeler in Delhi’s Dhaula Kuan area on Sunday, killing the rider, a Finance Ministry official. A Delhi court later sent her to two days of judicial custody.
Gaganpreet Kaur lives in Gurugram with her husband, Parikshit Makkar. At the time of the crash, both of them, their two children, and a maid were inside the BMW. Her husband was injured but discharged from the hospital on Tuesday.
The incident took place on September 14 around 2 pm. According to police, the BMW, allegedly driven by Gaganpreet, rammed into a motorcycle.
The impact pushed the two-wheeler into a bus on the left side. The rider, Navjot Singh (52), a resident of Hari Nagar and an employee of the Ministry of Finance, died in the crash. His wife, Sandeep Kaur, suffered severe injuries, including multiple fractures and head trauma.
After the accident, questions were raised by the victim’s family about how the situation was handled. They alleged that instead of taking the injured couple to the nearest hospital, Gaganpreet drove them over 19 km away to another healthcare facility.
They also claimed that Gaganpreet and her husband were given medical attention before the victims, despite the couple’s critical condition.
The police confirmed on Monday that Gaganpreet has been booked under sections of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and for tampering with evidence after the accident.
