The assets of dismissed police constable Amandeep Kaur have been frozen by the Punjab Police following her arrest in a disproportionate assets case.

Kaur, who previously served as a senior lady constable with the Punjab Police, was re-arrested on Monday from Muktsar district after an investigation revealed that her wealth far exceeded her known sources of income, as per a FPJ report. Her arrest comes just weeks after she was caught with 17.71 grams of heroin in her possession, which led to her dismissal from service.

The 2018–2025 financial probe, conducted by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), uncovered that Kaur had declared a total income of Rs 1.08 crore during this period, but her expenditure had soared to over Rs 1.39 crore — Rs 31.27 lakh more than what her earnings could legally account for. This discrepancy amounts to 28.85% above her legitimate income, the VB said.

A case under Sections 13(1) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered on 26 May at the VB police station in Bathinda range, an official spokesperson was said to confirmed by FPJ. The ongoing investigation includes scrutiny of Kaur’s salary records, bank statements and loan documents.

As per a report by India Today, among the assets now under the scanner are a residential building worth Rs 99 lakh in Virat Nagar, Bathinda, a plot in Dream City valued at Rs 18.12 lakh, a 2025 model Mahindra Thar SUV estimated at Rs 14 lakh, a 2023 Royal Enfield Bullet bike worth Rs 1.7 lakh, a Rolex watch valued at Rs 1 lakh, three mobile phones and Rs 1.01 lakh in her bank account.

Kaur had already drawn attention within law enforcement circles for her opulent lifestyle — an unusual sight for a police constable. Nicknamed the “Insta Queen” for her flashy presence on Instagram, where she has over 30,000 followers, Kaur frequently posted glamorous reels featuring her SUV and designer accessories.

Her arrest on April 2 near Badal Road in Bathinda had sparked internal departmental scrutiny. She was reportedly using vehicles with Punjab Police stickers and allegedly refused inspections during routine checks, claiming her position in the force.

Although the court granted her bail later that month, observing that the 17.71 grams of heroin recovered did not qualify as a commercial quantity under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, she was removed from duty.

The latest arrest and asset freeze are part of the state’s broader anti-drug campaign, Yudh Nasheian De Virudh (War Against Drugs), launched by the Punjab government to tackle the pervasive drug menace in the region.
