The Long Range RWD version costs Rs 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Prices are higher than in global markets due to high import duties in India.

While the standard Model Y offers up to 500km of range on a full charge, the Long Range version delivers up to 622km. The standard variant does 0-100kmph in 5.9 seconds, while the Long Range takes 5.6 seconds. The top speed for both versions is 201kmph. With fast charging, the standard model can add about 238km of range in 15 minutes, while the Long Range can add around 267km.

The Surat pop-up follows Tesla's recent announcement of the Switch and Save programme, under which the company is offering an exchange incentive of Rs 3 lakh for customers moving from petrol and diesel vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs). Under this programme, the Model Y can be purchased with a down payment of Rs 6 lakh and monthly instalments starting from Rs 49,000, according to the company.

The company said the Surat pop-up is part of its broader strategy to expand its presence in India. Similar integrations are planned at VR Chennai, VR Nagpur, VR Bengaluru and VR Ambarsar.
