Tesla has announced an exclusive pop-up experience in Gujarat, showcasing the Model Y as part of its first such initiative in the state. The pop-up is being held at VR Surat during the Dumas Art Project and will run from February 8 to February 28.
A Tesla pop-up is a temporary, short-term physical experience centre, not a permanent showroom or dealership.
The pop-up experience places the spotlight on the Tesla Model Y, allowing visitors to explore the electric SUV. Tesla said the pop-up has been integrated with the Dumas Art Project, positioning the Model Y Kala Car within a broader cultural setting. The collaboration is aimed at creating an immersive environment that combines innovation, sustainability and contemporary art, while engaging visitors within the VR Surat ecosystem.
As part of the experience, visitors will be able to explore Tesla charging solutions, take test drives of the Model Y and make bookings directly at the pop-up location. The company said this approach is intended to create a seamless touchpoint for both new and existing electric vehicle customers.
The Tesla Model Y is offered only with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup in India. It is available in two variants. The standard RWD version is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The Long Range RWD version costs Rs 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Prices are higher than in global markets due to high import duties in India.
While the standard Model Y offers up to 500km of range on a full charge, the Long Range version delivers up to 622km. The standard variant does 0-100kmph in 5.9 seconds, while the Long Range takes 5.6 seconds. The top speed for both versions is 201kmph. With fast charging, the standard model can add about 238km of range in 15 minutes, while the Long Range can add around 267km.
The Surat pop-up follows Tesla's recent announcement of the Switch and Save programme, under which the company is offering an exchange incentive of Rs 3 lakh for customers moving from petrol and diesel vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs). Under this programme, the Model Y can be purchased with a down payment of Rs 6 lakh and monthly instalments starting from Rs 49,000, according to the company.
The company said the Surat pop-up is part of its broader strategy to expand its presence in India. Similar integrations are planned at VR Chennai, VR Nagpur, VR Bengaluru and VR Ambarsar. Tesla currently operates 16 supercharging stations and 14 destination charging stations in India, with further expansion planned.
