Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM) today announced an investment of USD 25 million (nearly Rs 219 crore) over the next five years to establish its first overseas electric vehicle (EV) assembly plant in Dubai's Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza).

The move is aimed at expanding OSM's global presence and catering to the growing demand for low-emission mobility in the Middle East and Africa.

The facility, covering over 42,000 square feet, will assemble OSM's electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler models, manage storage, and distribute automotive components and spare parts. Assembly operations are expected to begin by the end of 2025.

The project is estimated to generate over 100 jobs in its initial phase and contribute to strengthening clean technology trade between the UAE and India.

"More manufacturers are turning to Jafza to tap high-growth markets across the Middle East, Africa and beyond. With the MENA EV market projected to reach USD 14.5 billion (Rs 1,26,823 crore) by 2029, driven by supporting government policies, rising demand and expanding infrastructure, this facility brings innovative mobility solutions closer to the region and underlines Dubai's role as a global hub for the automotive sector," said Abdulla Al Hashmi, COO, Parks and Zones, DP World GCC.

OSM Founder and Chairman Uday Narang said that this launch is a proud moment for us and fitting that it comes on Indian Independence Day. "Jafza gives us unmatched connectivity to more than 2 billion consumers and a business environment that enables speed, scale and sustainability. Through Dubai, we aim to make clean mobility accessible and commercially viable for partners across the Middle East and Africa," he added.

In India, OSM has four plants, three in Faridabad (Haryana) and one in Pune (Maharashtra), with a combined annual production capacity of 40,000 units for its two-wheelers and three-wheelers.

The company's product range includes the OSM Rage+ three-wheeler cargo vehicle and the OSM Stream passenger model, with a claimed range of up to 270km, fast-charging and battery-swapping options, and IoT-enabled fleet management. With over 160 dealerships in India and more than 20,000 vehicles sold, OSM aims to use Dubai as its global hub for clean transport solutions.
